The Woodland Trust – Bishops Knoll, Bristol

Since 2017, Yard has been the approved contractor for The Woodland Trust, carrying out the conservation and consolidation of the terraced gardens within the wonderful site at Bishops Knoll, Bristol.

Various phases of works have been completed including lime mortar re-pointing, stone walling and rebuilding collapsed stone structures. All works have been carried out using an appropriate approved lime mortar mix, working sympathetically in order to best maintain and preserve the historic importance and beauty of the site.

It’s a wonderful place to work over the summer months and we enjoy meeting members of the public whilst we are working, answering questions and demonstrating traditional walling techniques.

The site certainly has its challenges; There is no vehicle access meaning all tools, equipment and materials need to be carried in by hand and we harvest as much rainwater as possible, to be used for mixing lime mortar.

Works here are ongoing and phases are usually scheduled for the summer months so feel free to pop along and see us!
